Climate Action

Development and Verification of Carbon Inventories and Carbon Reduction Projects

Climate Action

Climate change is one of the most important environmental issues of the 21st Century.

Data on the global climate shows that there has been an unprecedented warming trend during the last one hundred years, culminating with the last two decades being the warmest in human history. There is now broad consensus among scientists that much of this warming trend is due to anthropogenic emissions of greenhouse gases (GHGs).

Many companies and agencies are taking action to mitigate their carbon emissions, either through voluntary action or in response to emerging local, state and federal mandates. These organizations are taking steps to quantify their emissions, set emission reduction targets, and implement emission reduction projects. Ryerson, Master and Associates, Inc.  can assist your organization in charting the best course of action to mitigate carbon emissions in the most cost-effective manner. We have many years of experience to share with you to help address and quantify your carbon footprint and implement carbon reduction projects.

Why work with RMA?

RMA is one of the few companies that is an ANSI-accredited verifier under ISO 14064-3, "Greenhouse Gases Specification with Guidance for the Validation and Verification of Greenhouse Gas Assertions" and ISO 14065 "Greenhouse Gases-Requirements for Greenhouse Gas Validation."  RMA has extensive experience with GHG procedures and protocols.  Since the California Registry began operations in 2001, RMA has verified the majority of registered emissions in that Registry.

The RMA staff are highly trained in the area of carbon emissions verification and climate action planning, and we specialize in leading edge, forward-thinking analyses and planning in this crticial area.  The majority of RMA professional staff are accredited to Lead Verifiers, having completed rigorous GHG reporting and verification training.  They are supported by a team of professionals who provide verification and analysis functions.  We have demonstrated experience in the verification of technical data, quality control, and environmental mangement systems, and we have demonstrated our ability to render sound professional judgements about GHG emissions and emission reduction strategies.

RMA understands the importance of impartiality in its verification activities. We have internal procedures in place to ensure the objectivity of verification activities and to manage conflict of interest according to the standards of the applicable greenhouse gas program.  RMA has internal confidentiality procedures in place that ensure we keep all client GHG data and information confidential, and we do not release any client GHG data or information to a third-party without prior written approval.  Our clients have the option to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement with RMA.

As a requirement of our accreditation, RMA maintains a process for considering appeals and complaints about our validation and verification services. A description of this process is available upon request.
